Minneapolis MN 2019
In Minneapolis' Warehouse Historic District, the Hillman & Porter project showcases the power of adaptive reuse. Through collaborative efforts neglected warehouse buildings were rehabilitated, blending historic preservation with modern design.
The Porter Electric Building, once deemed unimportant, was successfully nominated to the National Register of Historic Places. This ensured its preservation and spurred the district's revitalization.
The redesign created a bustling ground floor with retail spaces and vibrant upper-level offices. The project's success is evident in its full occupancy, proving the demand for spaces that honor history while meeting modern needs.
Hillman & Porter is a shining example of how adaptive reuse can revitalize historic districts, creating vibrant communities that celebrate the city's heritage.
