Duluth MN 2023
In Duluth, the iconic Old Central High School, a historical landmark since the 1890s, was reimagined as Zenith DCHS, a vibrant residential complex with 120 apartments. This ambitious project embodies a harmonious blend of historical preservation and contemporary living. Consistent collaboration with Kraus Anderson, throughout construction, led to a successful project despite the challenges of rehabilitating a 130 year old building.
The building's striking red masonry and timeless bell tower, once symbols of educational excellence, now serve as captivating features of this revitalized space. The restoration efforts have meticulously adhered to historic guidelines, ensuring that every detail of the original architecture is preserved and celebrated.
Zenith DCHS is not just a collection of apartments; it's an environment designed to foster a sense of community and connection. A range of thoughtfully curated amenity spaces, inspired by Duluth's unique character, provides residents with opportunities for social interaction, relaxation, and recreation. Residents will enjoy breathtaking views of the Duluth harbor and access to modern conveniences while residing in a building steeped in history.
The transformation of Old Central High School into Zenith DCHS exemplifies a commitment to sustainable development and adaptive reuse. By repurposing this historic landmark, the project not only breathes new life into the building but also contributes to the revitalization of Duluth's urban landscape. Zenith DCHS is a shining example of how historic preservation and modern living can coexist harmoniously, creating a vibrant and sustainable community for future generations.
